  • Recknor arrived in the border town of Varenheim and soon became the county's master blacksmith. His increasingly sought-after services in the capital forced him to spend long periods away from his family.
  • When Varenheim was besieged, Recknor begged his lord to liberate the city to save his people. The Duke did not shirk his duty, but he took too long taking precautions, and it was too late for many of its inhabitants, including Recknor's family.
  • Upon learning of this, he armed himself and forced his way from the forge to the throne room, killing anyone who stood in his way until he ended the duke's life. “It was just a matter of taking up arms and fighting, my lord.”
