  • In this book, five leading modelers explain in detail how to create the camouflage patterns most commonly used by German armored vehicles during the middle phase of World War II, encompassing most of 1943 and 1944. This period saw the introduction of new camouflage colors, with a dark yellow base (Dunkelgelb) replacing the previous dark gray, accented with patches of olive green (Olivgrün) and dark brown (Schokobraun). The mid-war period also witnessed the development of Zimmerit, an anti-magnetic paste applied to the vertical surfaces of tanks and their derivatives, including assault guns and tank destroyers.
  • Not only is the camouflage painting process explained step by step, but you will also discover the keys to achieving an excellent level of weathering with effects such as mud, splashes, drips, dust, grease and all kinds of dirt, and even how to easily create a perfect ambient base.
  • Eight models are used to offer a wide repertoire of vehicles and camouflage patterns, from assault guns like the StuG III to the colossal Tiger II, as well as the famous Panther, Tiger, Pz. IV tanks and the Elefant and Jagdpanther tank destroyers.
  • In addition, a superb historical introduction to German camouflage and markings from the mid-war period (used between February 1943 and September 1944) is included, written by historian and model maker Daniele Guglielmi and accompanied by period photographs. This guide to German mid-war camouflage is also illustrated with color profiles showing the different types of camouflage and colors used, as well as the period in which they were employed.
