  • The Zimmerit coating, developed by the German chemical company Chemische Werke Zimmer & Zimmerit, a coating applied to German armored vehicles in the mid-to-late stages of World War II, specifically from August 1943 to September 1944, was designed to protect them from magnetic shaped-charge mines that enemy infantry might attach to their surface. The idea was to apply a layer of Zimmerit over the armor, creating a rough, non-magnetic surface to reduce the likelihood of the mines sticking to the vehicle.
  • The material was applied in textured patterns, often with wavy or grid shapes, using special tools. These designs were not only visually distinctive but also increased the effectiveness of the protection by reducing the contact surface of the magnets with the vehicle's surface.
  • AMMO presents the first fast-drying acrylic paste for recreating Zimmerit on your models. Apply the Zimmerit paste with a spatula, then use one of the Zimmerit tools included in the set. A.MIG-8583 Zimmerit Application Tools for easily and realistically reproducing patterns. The paste has the same color as the original Zimmerit, providing an extremely authentic finish to the model.
  • For those who wish to delve deeper into the knowledge of Zimmerit, the book AMMO ZIMMERIT The Definitive Modeling Guide (Spanish) A.MIG-6312 offers extensive information on its historical context, application methods, and painting and weathering techniques. With several step-by-step chapters on modeling techniques, it is an essential reference for achieving realistic Zimmerit finishes.
