  • The second book in our new series of "Practical Guides", resulting in this volume... The 56th Scale Modeling Manual we have published to date!
  • We are very excited about this new book series covering the many techniques needed to create better scale models. We cover many of the most popular topics in the great hobby of scale modeling, and in this second volume, six master artists show us how to create and paint high-quality World War II dioramas, vignettes, figures, and busts, revealing all their secrets on how they achieved such magnificent works! This book consists of six chapters where you will find all the information you need for the preparation, assembly, painting, and weathering of the most popular World War II model categories, using the latest techniques and tools. We offer six topics; five of them are explained in great detail and include numerous step-by-step images, and one includes photos of the creation process.
  • We welcome a new master American artist, Andy Gulden, who compiled the first chapter of the book with his stunning diorama of a late World War II Panzer IV on a scenic base, accompanied by six figures that he himself updated and modified to fit the tank. Andy perfectly captured the weary expressions on the figures' faces, as the scene takes place in 1945, at the end of World War II. The detailed 16-page article includes 43 photographs (37 of the step-by-step process and six of the creation process), focusing primarily on the painting and weathering of the tank, as well as the construction of the base. Detailed paint mixes for the figures are included, with oils for the faces and acrylics for the uniforms.
  • The renowned Belgian master artist Lieven Terryn presents his 1/35 scale Sturmmann from Kampfgruppe Hansen in Poteau, painted to perfection in oils, occupying six pages in the second chapter. The detailed text, along with excellent photographs of the finished figure, includes 10 images of the creation process that reveal all the information necessary to paint a similar figure in such detail.
  • Another renowned artist, Toshihiro Sano, wrote the third chapter, dedicated to painting the camouflage patterns and equipment of the German Waffen-SS from World War II using enamels. This detailed six-page article includes 40 high-resolution photographs, 34 step-by-step instructions, and all the information needed to paint two 1/35 scale Waffen-SS grenadiers.
  • In the fourth chapter, we welcome a new and renowned Italian master, Roberto Del Cima, who reveals his secrets for painting a stunning, large-scale bust of a Red Army sniper from World War II using acrylics. This chapter unfolds across 10 pages with 46 highly detailed photographs, 43 of which include step-by-step instructions.
  • Chapter Five presents a small, step-by-step diorama by master modeler Theodosis Giannakidis, who was inspired by a similar classic diorama he saw published some time ago in volume 2 of "The Verlinden Way." Theodosis explains his method for creating this beautiful diorama in detail, providing all the necessary information for its assembly, construction, painting, and weathering. The eight-page article includes detailed text and 28 images, 21 of which are step-by-step, so that the reader, if desired, can easily follow the entire procedure and create a similar winter diorama.
  • In the sixth and final chapter, Christos Katselos, another of our renowned master artists and a regular contributor to Mr Black Publications, explains in detail how to paint an Italian camouflage pattern on a 1/16 scale figure. This final chapter spans 15 pages and includes 60 detailed photographs, 52 of which are accompanied by step-by-step instructions, detailed descriptions, and paint mixes for all the figure's elements.
  • A huge thank you to all our collaborators and the great artists who participated in this book: Andy Gulden, Lieven Terryn, Toshihiro Sano, Christos Katselos, Roberto Del Cima and Theodosis Giannakidis, for giving us the opportunity to publish their works and share their secrets.
