In the 1970s, the US Mobility Equipment Research & Design Command (MERDC) developed a camouflage pattern system for U.S. Army vehicles. This system consisted of standardized patterns for each vehicle, to be used with a twelve-color system. The set includes all the necessary shades to represent the Grey and Red Desert patterns.
